Overload

No matter what physiological response you are aiming for, in order to progress the principle of overload must be applied to instigate a stress reaction by the body.  Without overload, whether it be in the form of load, time, intensity or time under tension, the body has no cause to adapt and change.  

Rest

It is during periods of rest and recovery that the body changes and improves, not during the exercise itself.  It is therefore imperative that rest time is included as an essential factor of the programme itself, and this includes sufficient, quality sleep.

Yield
